I'm here with my Cali, and I've had some adjustments on my where my computer is sitting, so you might not see CALLI, but I promise you she's right here, sitting with me at my piano. Here my music studio. There you go. You can see her a little bit. And if you're just listening, she's here with me. So thank you for joining me. 1:32 Goals is focused on music, musicians, music venues, music schools, music teachers, music composers, music everything, and music is all around us. No matter where we go, what we do, there are sounds. There's the birds outside, the wind blowing in the trees. That's a sound of music. That's you know, you go to the store, there's music in the store. And there's so many of us that are musicians that we get to play or we're students to be better musicians, and it is such a beautiful way to express ourselves. And other than being a radio show host, I'm also a music teacher and I always tell my students, you know, you no matter what you do, at the end of your day, no matter what kind of day you've had, it's always nice to sit down at your instrument. I love the piano. That's my favorite instrument. So I'll say sit at the piano or if you have a guitar, violin, whatever instrument you have, and just express yourself through music.

2:33 And it's a good outlet. You know, we all deal with stuff Facebook and all the social social media. We post all this great stuff and oh, you know, people look. So wonderful and and you know, we get to post our strides and our alkaloids, if that's the right way to say it. And we don't always post the stuff like but the hard stuff that we go through and we think, oh, somebody else has got it made or not. But we all have a story, we all have stuff that we're dealing with. And I really think it's the attitude that we keep and the music and the people that we surround ourselves with. And especially if you are a musician, you know that performing and playing is just such such an easy way to let go of stuff and feel free.

3:27 Or even if you don't play an instrument, you get to sit down and listen to music you love. It just connects with you at a level. For all of us, it connects with us at a level where we just feel understood. Right. So, no matter where you are in the world today, whether you're with me here on Monday, and for those of you that are here with me on Monday, it's the end of the Monday. Monday is usually the busiest days of the work week. And I have a guest that I can't wait to welcome on today. But before I introduce my guest today, I'm going to play piano for you for a little bit. And my guest today is not only a local in my community here in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, but he is also a great support to all the musicians locally and worldwide because I have mister Jim Breen joining me today from Trade Winds Studios. And I'm so excited because I have so many friends and family that have worked with him and that have recorded in his studio. And I promise you, for those of you that are just stepping out into the music world and just looking to record your music, I promise you, it is not that hard.

14:34 Thank you for joining me today. This is the sound of Gold and we focus on music and everything that has to do with musicians and frequencies and vibrations. And I got to listen to something earlier today on Instagram video about how they're doing more studies on not so much the sound of music, but even more, even deeper than that, is the frequency, the frequency of the vibrations of the sound, and how we as human beings connect to sound and how we can truly heal through sound. There, if I can remember them correctly, there were five five compounds, five chemical compounds that they mentioned, and it was hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, and I'm going to forget one more mentioned, but there's one more that they mentioned that really, when we break down the chemical compounds of the human of what we're made of, all the way down to our cellular level, sound music is healing beyond what we are just talking about now. I mean, there's so much more studies going into into this, and I'm excited to see where it goes.

15:59 And I only know so much. I just know that I love playing music, and I love to be here and playing for you, and I love to listen to music as well and for my audiences out there. If you're no matter where you are, what you're feeling, whether you play an instrument or you don't. Okay, let's say you don't play an instrument, find music that meets you where you're at, right, So if you're having a tough day and you need something that's going to kind of bring you down and relax, you find music that you can connect with. If you're having kind of a crazy day and you feel like sometimes just screaming, maybe I don't know, maybe listen to ac DC or something like that.

16:40 But find music you can connect with on a daily basis. And if you're it's healthy to kind of take a break during the day. And sometimes we get so overwhelmed and so busy that we can't get away, we can't take that break. But maybe we all have a cell phone or we all have some kind of device where we can program something where we can listen to music that meets us where we're at. And I promise you, I really think that that will help you overcome whatever you're dealing with. And again, we all deal with something. It doesn't matter who we are, where we are. We're human and it's part of our being human that we deal with things. And keeping a positive attitude and keeping ourselves calm and being kind to ourselves and being patient with ourselves helps us see through the different things that we deal with on a daily basis. And music. Music is everything when it comes to pning into into healing ourselves.

He overbooked his schedule, mister Jim Breen from Trade Win, Trade Win Studio, and say it right. So as we are waiting for him, I get to play piano for you. And our subject today is about what it takes to get into a recording studio, and I would have to say, from what I know, there are probably different price ranges, right, and then depending on how many people you have in a band and what you're recording, I think all those come into factors. If you're just one person and you're looking to record your voice, singing or playing an instrument, I don't know the different prices, and from my experience, I will say that to get into recording studio is not difficult.

31:27 It is as easy as making a phone call, scheduling and showing up and then of course finding out what the cost will be. And I Trade One Studios, I do not know the costs, and even if I did, I believe, like most other businesses and industries, it is custom to you. It is custom to what you are creating. It is custom to what you are presenting, and it varies whether you're just doing a single song, a whole album, whether you're doing video, whether you're doing commercial film. There are so many different dynamics that go into price ranges for showing up and recording in a studio. But I will say it is not difficult, which I've already said, it's not difficult. It's just a phone call. It's just a phone call to a schedule and find out. Find I mean, what would it take to just get the information to get started right. Once you step into what you want, the momentum starts rolling and then you find out things you didn't know before. And I will say this for myself, and I know many of you out there will agree that once you start finding out and taking the steps forward, it's not as difficult and scary as we thought it was. Right, Anything new, anything we don't know that we think about that we want to do or think about doing, or I think it's too far out there, too far out of reach, is not.

32:58 It's just a matter of getting past the fear, and that fear we create ourselves, right, We limit ourselves by creating this belief system of fear that we might think something about something or not know anything about. And anyway, I'm just kind of rambling on here. But for those of you out there that want to step forward and get into a recording studio, I don't know much about recording studios, but I do know it just takes a phone call to schedule and to find out what it's about. There's no charge to get a consultation to find out what you want to create and how the studio and the artist that work at the music studio can do for you. Right, So it's not. And we had a great day cracking drums in my recording studio with a wonderful local studio. Drummer and percussionist named Neil Shukla. And it's uh, it's it was a beautiful day and it's been a great session and had a lot of. Fun with it. So and I'm excited to be here on your show now. Well, thank you, and I'm sorry we can't see you and you're not able to log on, but we can hear you. And we were just talking Jim that it's not that hard to get into a studio. It's just it's a matter of a phone call. Can you tell us a little bit more about what it takes to make a connection with you and and maybe schedule to get into your studio or across the board?

36:42 What is it to Yeah? Yeah, so so basically it's what I usually do is when when people have a project that they need to work on, unusually available. For a phone call and a chance to and they choose to kind of go through all. Of their needs and what they're doing. Sometimes people in this day and age, there's a lot of people who write music, who sing and possibly even play an instrument or something, maybe they're a keyboard player or whatever, and they.

37:22 Sing, but they don't have access to a band. So we kind of do that. We kind of like provide the band. I have drummers and drummers and. You still there, Yes, I'm here. Yeah, Oh we lost mister jam Oh. No technical difficulties, I tell you. You know what, It's wonderful that we have all the technology that we can connect and it doesn't matter where we are in the world. However, stuff happens, right, stuff happens, and then it makes it not fun. So Let's try calling this Jim Breen back. All right, we were just talking to him. We're trying to call him back.

38:51 I should know is with life, things happen and we roll with it, and we we create what we can can. And that is about the music industry, isn't it not like you create what you can, You roll with what comes to you, and that's keep going and make it happen. That's it. That's what it is. And what's even funnier, and it's not funny, is that we as adults we get so frustrated when things like mess up, Like as an adult, like if it's not perfect. It's like, oh, why you know it's wrong? But you know what, I was reading this book Bye by Josh turn It you can play music, and he mentions in the book he says, you know, we get so frustrated as adults, but as kids, like you get something wrong, you go back and you just keep doing it until you get it right. And as adults we forget that. We like, no, God, do it once and get it right. But it's it's not that, it's just keep showing up, keep trying. That's what it's all about. We're all big kids.

39:53 The problem is we think that perfect exists and perfect does not exist. Ever, it's what we accept to be perfect. So we need to make sure that we can see things no matter what. And if things don't go the way you thought they were going to go the first time, it's because it wasn't supposed to happen that way. It's opening a new door for you. It's the way you frame your thinking about things and see how it's going to go. And your reaction to things that happen is your responsibility. Things that happen. I'm always in our control. That's so true. That's so true. And being accountable, Yes, for your reactions. Like triggers come up in all of us or for no matter who you're dealing with or living with, the triggers come up. Oh Jim's calling again.

40:45 Hi Jim, I was talking. I'm not sure when we lost each other. We lost you a few minutes ago. Were trying to call you back. We were at how to book an appointment with you in your studio? Oh boy? Okay? So yeah. So basically when people call up, I try to determine what they need. If it's a set band and they've been together for a long time and they've been rehearsing, that's one scenario that we can basically get them in, set everything up, get levels. And then get a product pretty quickly.

41:27 Because they know what they're going to do and they've got all the instrumentalists and vocalists in place. They might need a producer to make a few suggestions and help with the arrangements a little bit. But then the other scenario that we hit a lot is people who. Are songwriters and maybe they're a vocalists, maybe they play guitar, maybe they play piano, but they don't have a drummer, they don't have a bass player, and they're not really used to arranging this kind of part. So that's a fun thing is to be able to meet with those people and kind of take their vision and turn it into a full kind of pop arrangement. And that sounds much fun.

42:10 Yeah, And we have a few clients that have been coming in for several years that are kind of working on ongoing CDs. In this era of everything is singles and released online. Sure, there's still there's still people that who always had a dream to do their own album see the collection of songs or whatever you want to call it in this digital age. No, but Jim, how do how do my guests get in touch with you? Because I have guests that are watching, and then I have guests that are listening. So what is the best way to get in touch with you at the studio to schedule either a consultation or to come in and to work with you.

And yeah, normally I like to kind of have a consultation phone call and see what they have in mind. And and even we've had people who who. Have, you know, ideas for a song that it's not quite finished. It needs some help with uh, you know, maybe a third verse or.

43:38 Kind of tweaking some you know, some of the melody and different ideas for different things. So that's something that I do with some of our clients. I actively co write with them and and yeah, and I guess the thing that we do is we get songs done. So many people sit on music and they have an idea. They wrote a song for their their significant other, for their you know, their. Son, their daughter, there for some kind of occasion, they wrote a song, and it's very difficult for people to finish it on their own. And so one of the business of. Deciding, making decisions, getting forward, getting it done unique. Does it need a drummer, does it need a full band, is it guitar? Is it is it piano based? And luckily from being in the in the area for so long, and I actually went to music school at at fau Down, So when I was there and in the jazz department and got my music degree as I played in a lot of the different groups and whatnot.

44:47 Was sang in vocal jazz and did all that. But a lot of those relationships I've made, I still play with a lot of those musicians players, different different bass. Players and different things. That's it's been. It was really awesome then. And so just being in the area for so long. Originally moved down from Canada and went to high school down here, so I kind of had my formative years musically down here. And it's nice. So I have a big, a good arsenal of different musicians that that can step in and play and and uh and add their own special contribution to to people's tracks that they need.

45:28 So it's yeah, it's fun. You never know. Every day is different and we we do different. Projects summer some we've had everybody from like classical violinics to uh, you know to church musicians and you know, singers and and steel drum players and nice. I'm sorry, I have to cut you off.
